Here is a motion sensor schematic diagram using pyroelectric sensor PIR325 in TO5 package. Infrared sensors are made of crystals that produce the surface electric charge when exposed to heat in the form of infrared radiation. If the amount of radiations striking the crystal changes, the amount of charge also changes and then can be measured with a sensitive FET device built into the sensor.
